Research Network on Necrotizing Enterocolitis

The network envisions to promote research on necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). Our core members' labs are interested in the role of deregulated control of gene expression programs during fetal development, which potentially lead to the devastating condition of NEC. We intend to elucidate epigenetic control mechanisms of gene expression programs involved in intestinal cellular differentiation. Our primary aim is to identify triggers as well as deviations in these regulatory networks, which potentially might predispose premature infants to NEC.
